UK golf clubs

Multi-MID, one provider

Pro shop. Bar. Restaurant. One processor, one statement.

Most UK golf clubs run card payments across three or four MIDs — pro shop, bar, restaurant, function suite. We consolidate them onto one provider with one monthly statement and one named contact. Most clubs save 15–30% on the lift, with no disruption to membership renewals.

Why clubs get fragmented

Golf clubs accrue card terminals over time — a Worldpay box in the pro shop, a Barclaycard machine on the bar, a separate setup for the restaurant or function suite. Each one was sold on a different date, on a different rate card, with a different account manager. Nobody runs a periodic review.

The cost compounds. Different rates on the same scheme cards, different terminal rentals, different PCI levies — the consolidated bill is rarely the cheapest option once you add it up.

How we work with clubs

  • Consolidate every MID onto one provider

Pro shop, bar, restaurant, function suite — all on Clover with one invoice, one account manager, one PCI compliance regime. Reports across all sites in one dashboard.

  • Time the switch to membership renewals

We schedule the cutover for a quiet trading window — typically just before or after membership renewals so the cash-flow rhythm is undisturbed.

  • Accountant-friendly billing

One monthly statement covering all MIDs. The treasurer or finance manager sees a single line item, not three or four.

Questions from clubs

How does this work for committee-led governance?
We put a single written comparison in front of the finance subcommittee or treasurer. One paper, one decision. Once approved, we handle scheduling, install and migration with the club secretary.
Will the cutover affect membership renewals?
We schedule the cutover to land outside the renewal window. The terminal change takes a few minutes per device on a chosen morning — no disruption to membership Direct Debits or card-on-file mandates.
We are already on Clover at one site. Can you take over the others?
Yes. Several clubs we work with started with a single Clover MID and consolidated the rest later. We can run additional MIDs in parallel for a transition period if that suits your finance cycle better.
What about tablets and tableside payment for the restaurant?
Clover Flex handles tableside payments on Wi-Fi or 4G; Clover Mini sits on the counter at the pro shop and bar; Clover Duo runs the function-suite till with a customer-facing screen for loyalty and tips. We map the right device to each location during the quote.
How long does the switch take?
From committee approval to all MIDs live is typically two to four weeks, depending on how many sites need install. The signed agreement triggers the boarding; the cutover is scheduled around your calendar.
